Position: Copywriter/Brand Communications intern
Level: Junior/Intern 12-month paid contract
Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in copywriting/brand communications, PR, marketing, journalism or similar.
About the company
Thebe Tourism Group is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Thebe Investment Corporation. Formed in 2001, the group is the oldest black-empowered South African tourism group and has a significant portfolio in tourism and related industries ranging from tourism attractions (like Cape Point), inbound and outbound tourism, group travel, accommodation and car rental.
Thebe Tourism Group is looking for a graduate to be hosted as an intern in the Marketing Department for a period of 12 months. The intern will be based in Century City at the Thebe Office. Passionate and talented individuals who are currently unemployed and would like to gain experience in tourism/marketing are encouraged to apply.
The marketing team often acts as an internal agency for the companies within the Thebe group of companies on a project basis; the intern will be included in these projects where the opportunity presents itself. Some of the brands in the group include Cape Point; Soul Traveller; Kruger Shalati; Mandela Presidential Centre. A year internship with brands such as these open doors in the permanent workplace for individuals wishing to excel in the tourism, communications, events and marketing industries.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for a copywriter intern to work within the marketing office of the company. Daily work includes but not limited to blog writing, social content, copywriting for general brochures, flyers, invitations and more.
Requirements
A love of the English language
The ability to write in different styles and switch between casual (consumer based) and formal (business) writing.
Able to meet multiple deadlines, often at short notice.
Able to conceptualise, produce, and execute content based on provided content plans.
Comfortable presenting ideas to internal teams.
Witty and have a good sense of humour.
A creative thinker with the ability to be innovative and inventive.
Uses initiative, proactive and well-organised.
Works well under pressure, punctual and a team player.
Driven, passionate and motivated individuals with a passion for tourism and writing.
