Thebe people: Brett Hendricks

Brett Hendricks, General Manager of the Thebe Tourism Group, has been with Thebe for 8 years. He completed a BCom (Acc) degree at the University of the Western Cape, before achieving his Honours in Accounting at the University of Natal. He served articles at BDO Spencer Steward (now Grant Thorton) and then spent time in Corporate Finance at BDO before joining Thebe Tourism in 2006.

“Believe it or not, my first career choice was not to be an accountant, but a chef,” he laughs. A proud father of two beautiful daughters, he loves spending time with family and friends. “I love the outdoors, I love my sport, travelling and socialising.”

Brett is an encouraging leader in his field. He is passionate about empowering people, developing skills and growing entrepreneurship. He has little time for negativity and laziness and believes in finding innovative ways to make the impossible a reality. “There are so many opportunities. I surround myself with positive people who, like me, are keen to take on opportunities and challenges that will have a positive outcome and bring about constructive change in our communities,” he explains.

There has been many highlights during his time at Thebe. “There has been significant growth in the groups’ profitability after some turbulent times,” he says. “During my time at Thebe I have worked with great people, and have learnt so much for which I am truly grateful. Thebe is a family with exceptional values, a place where you can grow and achieve what you are destined to become. I am looking forward to many more years of growth and hopefully mentoring within the Thebe Group.
